3. SLC Registration Procedure and Deadline

First, WHAT IS SLC?: The 4-H State Leadership Conference brings together high school youth from across California in a four-day leadership training, networking, and learning experience at UC Santa Cruz. The conference provides advanced leadership training and is an opportunity for 4-H members to network and share ideas with other 4-Hers from across the state. The conference focuses on providing high school youth with experiential education on leadership development, civic engagement, college admissions and other 4-H project areas.

Youth delegates gain exposure to the campus by living in the residence halls, eating in the dining commons, and participating in educational sessions, many of which are taught by UC faculty and staff.

The conference is planned by a team of high school 4-H members and adult advisors. Working in strong youth-adult partnership, the team designs the educational, recreational and logistical components of the conference.

Second, WHEN AND WHERE?

This year, to accommodate school schedules, SLC will have two registration options: Council will pay either registration fee but will not be responsible for any additional costs such as parking permits, t-shirts, or additional tour fees. Participants will be responsible for reimbursing the San Benito 4-H Council for any fees beyond the event registration. Travel arrangements will be made after registration closes- because of the closeness of the conference this year council may not be providing transportation to and from the conference.

Spirit of Adventure: Thursday, August 14 - Sunday, August 17, $469
Thursday arrival begins with dinner and a trip to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Friday is tour day! Register for one or more tours (some at an additional fee).  The traditional SLC schedule begins Friday late afternoon and continues through Sunday.

Fortune & Glory: Friday, August 15 - Sunday, August 17, $349
Friday arrival begins with an exciting campus treasure hunt and the first meal served is dinner. The opening keynote is Friday evening to kick off the traditional SLC schedule and educational events.

Third, HOW DO I REGISTER?:  If you are interested in becoming a youth delegate please complete the steps below. (Interested in becoming an adult chaperone? Please contact the county office BEFORE you complete the registration process)

1. Visit the following link to complete your online registration: http://4h.ucanr.edu/Programs/Conferences/SLC/

*Please note that delegates will sign up for educational sessions when they check-in at the conference*

4. Print and Complete the San Benito County Travel Funding Application
