*I have attached the enrollment update form for your convenience*

2. Holiday Office Hours and Closure Dates

I wanted to notify everyone regarding the UCCE Winter Holiday and Curtailment schedule so that you can plan ahead.

As in previous years, UC campuses and offices will be closed for an extended period at the end of the calendar year in order to realize cost savings through reduced energy use and to accommodate  employee vacation.

The UCCE Office in San Benito County will be closed Wednesday December 24th through Thursday, January 1st. As such, please note the following changes to our regular Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday office hours before and after the holiday closure:

The office will be open and additional day the week before the closure, on Monday December 15th from 9am-5pm.

In January the office will be open all week from Monday the 5th through Friday the 9th from 9am-5pm.

Please remember that the enrollment deadline to show in the 2014 fairs will be Friday the 19th.

Please plan accordingly and contact me if you have any questions.

3. Council Committee Descriptions- Council Approved

Below I have attached the new and improved Committee Sign-up form approved at the November 24th council meeting.

Please take a look and review the changes to see if you would like to participate!

Thinking about volunteering but are unsure what committees do? This year there will be a mandatory committee orientation meeting on January 26th at 5:30pm before our regularly scheduled council meeting. This will be a great opportunity to review the objective of our committees and start putting together plans of work for the calendar year.

Please note the following changes to the committee structure:

a. One adult volunteer or senior member from each club is required to participate on each of the following committees; Record Book, Incentives and Recognition, and Pancake Breakfast. All three of these committees directly affects or benefits each club so it is important that each club have a role in helping these areas of our program run efficiently and smoothly.

b. Sunrise Breakfast is now on a rotation like Pancake Breakfast. The rotation allows for several years between events so that no club would be responsible for Pancake and Sunrise Breakfast in the same year.

c. County and Sectional Presentation Days are now combined into one committee- because sectional presentation day is only our responsibility every three years.

Please check out the sign-up form below to review additional changes.

If you are interested in volunteering (which would look GREAT in a record book- hint hint!) please turn in your committee application by January 23rd, 2015! **We still need volunteers! So please help!**

6. Plant Sale and Garden Expo- Project activity idea!

There are several clubs that have gardening projects- this might be a great idea to combine outreach as well as a group field trip! Think about it!
You'll find a message from the event planners below- Contact Mary Paxton if you or your club/project might be interested!

The City of Hollister is coordinating a Plant Sale and Garden Expo in partnership with the Hollister Downtown Association and San Benito County Water Resources Association and local landscape architect, Anita Kane.   This is the third year.  The sale started with the Hollister Downtown Association selling plants from an annual plant trial as a fundraiser triggered by the unexpected loss of funding when the Hollister and other Redevelopment Agencies  were abolished by the state legislation.  We will also have booths available for local vendors to sell plants, garden related merchandise and educational materials and activities for water wise gardening.    This event could be an opportunity for 4H Youth to provide a demonstration about home gardening.  We noticed the wheelbarrow gardens at the fair and wondered if that could be a good demonstration.  We are considering people to come for a pot/container swap. We are also considered a paint a pot activity.  Could you please let us know if there would be any youth with projects or clubs that may want to participate in this event.  The Hollister Downtown Association also plans to host the Spring Cleanup the same day – Saturday April 18, 2015
